Environmental Credentials

Many authorities and people around the world are increasingly concerned about the environmental cost of the continued use of hazardous chemical biocides. Most traditional chemical biocides are toxic to macro-organisms and leave harmful residual by-products. There is a growing demand for more ‘’green science’’ to be applied to disinfectant technology to combine high performance with environmentally sensitivity at cost effective levels.

ECA technology is a good example of ‘’green science’’. Its environmental credentials include:

  • Uses only natural, sustainable inputs of ordinary water and salt
  • Uses less energy (electricity) to produce biocidal efficacy output than traditional chemicals, so lower carbon footprint
  • Uses no oil-based or energy intensive inputs
  • Biocide generated on site eliminating the need to transport hazardous chemicals and significantly reduces carbon footprint
  • The anolyte biocide is pH neutral and non-hazardous and in the event of spillage into drains or direct contact with macro-organisms is totally benign
  • Produces no harmful by-products such as trihalomethanes, trichloromethanes or bromates
  • Anolyte biocide is so sensitive it can be used in aquatics such as fish farms and aquariums and in food processing
  • Anolyte will relax over time to its original constituent elements of mildly saline water
